Dr. Jack Cottrell

Dr. Jack Cottrell graduated from the University of Toronto and was the co-founder of this group practice setup in the town of Port Perry the same year.  The operation has since grown to include six dentists.  An active member of organized dentistry Dr. Cottrell has served as in him being Past President of the Durham Dental Society, Past President of Ontario Dental Association, Past President of the Canadian Dental Association and currently he is a member of the Executive Council of the FDI (World Dental Association).

Dr. Cottrell has contributed greatly to the community and to the profession of dentistry.  He served as the chairman of the Scugog Library Building Committee, Town Hall 1873, and the Scugog Recreation Committee, was a Ward Councillor on the Scugog Municipal Council, and has sponsored many sports teams and events.

Dr. Cottrell has been awarded many honours during his career.  He is a fellow of the International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International, and the Pierre Fauchard Society.  Among the many awards he has received are the Ontario Dental Association Service Award, the Barnabus Award, the University of Toronto Alumni Award of Distinction, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award of Merit and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

The past six years Dr. Cottrell has been heavily involved in Medical-Dental Missions with Speroway (formerly known as Feed the Children Canada) to Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador.  He was also instrumental in providing a permanent dental facility in Haiti as part of the Mission of Hope’s project following the 2010 earthquake in that country.

Any spare time that we give Dr. Cottrell outside of the office, you can find he and his wife Michelle on the golf course or spending time with his family of four children and their families.

Dr. Jim Hardy

Dr. Jim Hardy graduated from the University of Toronto and co-founded the Port Perry Dental Centre. The clinic has grown to include six dentists and offers all specialty services.

Dr. Hardy is an avid “outdoorsman” and enjoys every season with time spent at his cottage with his wife, Lauren. Many weekends and summer holidays are shared with their two sons and their families which include 3 grandchildren.
Early morning kayaking (before anyone else wakes!) is a favourite way of starting his day at the cottage.

Dr. Hardy has supported the community by his participation in the Chamber of Commerce and the local Rotary Club. He also enjoyed many years of coaching the in the Minor Hockey league. Dr. Hardy continues to support local athletes.


Dr. Jerry Isenberg

Dr. Jerry Isenberg

Dr. Isenberg graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry in 1979 and worked for the Toronto Public Health Department in public schools from 1981-1982.  He has worked from 1983 to the present in private practice in all areas of general dentistry.

Dr. Isenberg has high levels of interest and experience in Prosthodontics (fixed, removable, and implant supported), cosmetic dentistry, and enjoys working with the elderly.

Dr. Isenberg enjoys this community so much that he and his wife Mary purchased a lakefront home and now share their time between the city and the country. We like to think he prefers his home in Scugog! He enjoys golf on his days off and enjoys time with his two daughters and his son, too.

Along with Dr. Cottrell, Dr Isenberg loves to offer his dental skills to the people of Central America and has been part of the dental mission trips with Speroway on several occasions.

In 1994, Dr. Colleen Banfield graduated from University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry.

For the past six years, Dr. Banfield has been an active Ontario Dental Association representative for the Durham-Ontario Dental Society.

The element of dentistry she finds most intriguing is the surgical component.  It can be very challenging at times but she enjoys it.

Outside of office hours Dr. Banfield and her husband, Ed enjoy hiking canoe tripping, gardening, cross country and downhill skiing and birding. She also takes ballet & jazz lessons. Colleen & Ed are a very busy couple!
